Car history:
Sold via ProTeam in the past, according to the Registry's information. This car was sold to John T. Stahly of Peoria, Illinois and was titled and licensed on March 6, 1972 by the State of Illinois.

My story behind this Corvette was that it was stored in a machine shed on a farm outside Carlock, Illinois. A young nephew of Mr. Stahly was burning seed bags near the shed and the wind picked up the flames and burnt the machine shed to the ground with everything in it.

I worked with a family member at the time who knew that I was a Corvette owner and he told me about the situation. I purchased what was left of the Almond Beige 340HP Vette on June 5, 1979. Over the next year I harvested the more valubale parts that survived, although charred. Wheels, wheel covers, bumpers, manifolds, brackets, steering wheel minus the lucite hand grip, etc.

The following June, 1980 I installed an old set of Mr. Gasket spoke mag wheels (just like Cragars, that originally came on my Corvette #9696) and hauled it to Bloomington Corvette Corral, my hometown. There I sold what was left, the frame, engine, and sway bars to some young guys from Pittsburgh, Kansas. Their intention was to re-body the frame with a '58 body. I don't remember what I sold it for, but it was way more than the $200 I paid, plus the parts I kept. And who knows if those young dudes from Kansas followed through with turning it into a '58?
