Visit American Festival IJmuiden
May 8th, 2004 we have made our first public appearance since the exterior and interior restoration of our joy and pride. The American oldtimer festival in IJmuiden was our first local try-out. It turned out to be an immediate success since we had a lot of public wanting to have a glimpse on our car. Also a Maroon 62 Vette was present but clearly needed a lot of restoration work to be done.

Visit Heartbeat Corvette Club meeting
Today we have visited the Heartbeat Corvette Club (HCC) meeting at Nederhorst which was organized together with the Harley Davidson club of that part of the Netherlands. This was our first apperance at the Corvette Club, so a bit scary since these guys have seen more C1's in the past. Luckely everybody did appriciate our work on the car! On our way back home the car started to tutter and finally stopped all together. We had to be towed home because the "Wegenwacht (special road help organization)" wasn't able to determine the problem. After some investigation it turned out that the capacitor on the distributor quited working. An easy $5 repair!!!

Painted Rims
Just bought myself a nice new set of radial Coker white wall tires. While took the old tires of I gathered it would be a good idea to get the rims painted freshly (black for '59-ers). Sander Vette 1960/7174) helped me to get the rims painted nicely and tomorrow the freshly painted rims and tires will be re-attached to the car! Notice the white sprayed car parts in the back, these are actually Sanders hood and tank cover pieces waiting to be painted red... Can't wait to see the result...

Wheels fitted
Today I've got a phone call from the garage because they had found some time to put the new tires on the freshly painted rims. My wife was so kind to pick them up immediately so this evening I fitted them right away! Then we took the car out for a short spin to test the brakes and try out the tires. The difference is phenomenal! The old, more correct, diagonal tires are maybe more authentic but these babies really drive!!! Cornering was never more easy and the searching feeling is completely gone! An absolute must for every Corvette driver...

Radio option capacitor
Just received the needed radio option capacitor which should be fitted behind the dash amp-gauge. I still have to figure out which of the two terminals it should fit onto but I guess the AIM will answer that question...

Hardtop moulding
Some time ago I've already did some work on the new hardtop. Replaced all the weatherstrips, painted the black brackets on the inner side and glued in new turquoise liner. Today I've mounted the left and right inner mouldings which I've bought from e-Bay. Also I've been able to find new front header mouldings and the missing strip to keep them in place. Still the outside lower rear window moulding is missing and the inside horizontal rear window moulding. If you have one of these in your garage don't hasitate to contact me. Next August/Sept. we will be in the States anyway so I might even be able to pick them up...

Drilling holes
Just fitted the hardtop on the car to drill the three needed holes. Very scary to drill in your car! It worked out nicely, also polished the handles and front bar so it all looks very nice...
