Car history:
58 Facts: First year for dual headlights on each side. The interior was redesigned to have a 160 mph speedometer flanked by 2 instruments on each side with great center location for the tachometer. External distinguishing features included louvers on the hood, twin chrome trunk spears, and front and rear functional bumpers . Seat belts were factory installed for the first time. Total production was 9168 units with only 1154 optioned Red on Red like this one. Corvette VIN # J58S100433, October 30th 1957 build date. Most everything about this car is original date coded except the block which is 327-365 from '65 model. The car was raced on the west coast from 1958 to 1970 when it retired to a heated garage in Fresno, CA. The frame is smooth and California clean. Body is accident-free and very nice, however, paint is thin. Car was brought back to life in 2009 after a 39-year sleep. Driveline was freshened with Duntov Cam and solid lifters. Rebuilt components to include brakes, leaf springs ,shocks, fuel tank and sender, N.O.S. wiring harness, original wheels and Big Brake fuelie caps, re-chromed bumpers, hardtop weatherstrip kit, re-keyed all locks to 1 key. Interior was redone professionally. And now its ready to become a great driver or complete the restoration and paint it to its original signet Red. Gauges are original and all work. Radiator,Intake, air cleaner, fan, generator, hardtop glass, rear end,T-10 trans are all date coded to K57. I have the original K57 heads and carb also(not on car). If anyone knows of or has a J57 283 for this car please call me at 949-874-8222 The block number would be 3737739 or 3756519, Thank you This car has great bones and drives tight, will make great driver. This is a hardtop only car.
This '58 has very low mileage, original owner said about 11,000. And it was put on 1/4 mile at a time. Which would explain the great body fit and fabulous tight steering box, etc..
