We recieved this note in Dec 08 about the history on this car. If you know the current whereabouts of this car drop me or Dave Smith a line. Thanx, Phil
Dear Sir: My father owned the above Corvette for about 4 years or so back in the sixties. At that time the car was painted white with gold coves. My mom says it was red from the factory. My dad set a national speed record in his class at Detroit Dragway with it sometime in 62 or 63. My mom bought the 4 speed for the car because it came from the factory with a 3 speed. I would like to buy the car or at least talk to the owner if possible. I have attached a picture of a 1962 registration showing my Grandmother as the owner of the car (my dad's mother). My dad passed away about 4 years now so the car holds a special spot in my heart because it was such a special part of him. Dave Smith 810-326-1969. {lidsville@comcast.net }I live just northeast of Detroit.

Car history: |
This car is Red with a Red interior, white convertible soft top, and white coves. The Red paint is in driver quality condition with some minor imperfections due to age and wear. The body is in good shape. The doors line up nice as does the trunk and hood. The chrome is in good condition. The bumpers are clean with mirror like shines, and the trunk spears look great as does the rest of the chrome. The engine compartment looks GM correct, with a factory correct air cleaner and shielding. This car is equipped as a 270 hp car with two four barrels, that are correct Carter Carbs. The block is a 327ci Corvette Block that is not original to the car. The transmission is a 4-speed manual tranny the shifts and functions properly. The trunk compartment has a trunk board, mat, and spare. The undercarraige is in good condition. The frame is rust free in good shape, and the rear axle still has its axle straps. The convertible top frame is in good conditon as is the white soft top. The interior is a factory GM correct Pebble Grain Red Interior. The only non stock item is the radio. The seats are showing some wear but are in overall good condition. The door panels and stainlees steel are in good shape. All the factory stock gauges are in place. This car is complete and is a strong running Corvette. |
