Lot #1353 - In 1953, a mere 300 Corvettes were hand-built at the custom- delivery garage located at Van Slyke and Atherton Avenues in Flint, MI. This beautiful Corvette is one of those rare cars produced. In the decades since, it has received much acclaim and certainly has exceptional pedigree. Part of the pedigree is the prestigious and very difficult-to-achieve Bloomington Gold Certification in 2010. This car was present at the 50th Anniversary Celebration at Corvettes at Carlisle. It has undergone a 12-month restoration by renowned solid-axle Corvette expert Patrick Irving. This car is powered by a matching- numbers 235ci Blue Flame 6 fed by triple carburetors and backed by a Powerglide transmission. The automatic transmission was used because, at the time, there was no manual transmission equipped to handle the 150hp rating. Complete with the Wonder Bar AM radio, the Polo White exterior gleams against the red interior and stunning correct wheel/tire set. |
