Car history: |
Current owner bought the car in 1960 with plans to prepare the car for SCCA racing. In 1962 I got my SCCA novice license. My first SCCA race was in Sept. of '62 at Stead Air Force Base in Reno, Nv. There was one other Corvette in my class(BP). It was a 1959 with FI, positraction, and a 4- speed. About three quarters of the way through the race the '59 lapped me, but with 2 laps to go I saw him in the pits with his hood up and steam coming from his engine. I had unlapped myself and 6 cylinder engine was running cool. I went on to finish 1'st in class and took home the trophy. |
