Car history:
In the early 1950s the North American sports car market place was dominated by
mostly foreign makers like Jaguar, MG and Austin Healy. Chevrolet saw an opportunity,
and introduced the first Corvette. The first model was available as convertible only
and was designed by Harley Earl and introduced at the GM Motorama in 1953 as a
concept show car. Myron Scott is credited for naming the car after the type of small,
maneuverable warship called Corvette. The first generation Corvette was introduced
late in the 1953 model year and ended in 1962, these early cars are often referred
to as the "solid-axle" models. The outer body was made out of then-revolutionary
fiberglass material, selected in part because of quotas, left over from the war,
limited the availability of steel. Underneath the new body material were standard
components from Chevrolet's regular car line, including the "Blue Flame" inline
engine, two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, and drum brakes.

This 1954 Corvette has been meticulously frame off restored and as a result of the
time and efforts invested, it was awarded the prestigious NCRS Top flight. Finished
in flawless Polo white paint with exquisite red naugahyde interior featuring white
baseball stitching in the seats and door panels with complimentary red carpeting.
The instruments are set off by the body color dashboard capped with the same
red material. The retractable soft top is finished in tan, which was the only color
offered in '54 and comes with frame mounted drop in side windows. Powered by
the correct YG code 235 CID Blue flame in line six cylinder engine rated at 150HP
and mated to the 2 speed Power glide automatic transmission. This lively and
unique engine features three correct side draft SA Carter single throat carburetors
with bullet style air filters that were made for only two model years. The dual exhaust
system is routed through the rear valence with twin stainless steel outlets. The
unique look and ample Chrome is set off by the wide white wall tires with spinner
hubcaps. On a car such as this, the overall condition and quality speaks for itself,
but this car comes with the NCRS Judging sheets from its Top Flight award to showcase
all the high points in addition to a complete photo diary of before, during and after
the restoration. It truly is a beautiful example ready to be shown, or driven and enjoyed!
