Engine details: 283 cu in originally with 2-4bbl carbs which I swapped out in 1968 for a single 4bbl and some boot. Couldn't afford the 3 miles to a gallon on servicemans salary.

Car history:
I purchased my 1960 vette in April 1967 in Bloomington, IN from the wife of Bruce ?, who was in the service and had to get rid of it, for $1000. He had rebuilt the engine with Duntoff High-Rise cam, solid lifters, heads ported and polished by George Montgomery with oversized valves, close ratio Getz gears in 3 speed box, 3:36 rear end, primered paint. 300 miles on the engine and tranny when I bought it. He was going to road race it. With the gearing, took it up to 70 mph before shifting into 2nd gear.
