| Car history: |
1955 CORVETTE serial # VE55S001551 V8 3-speed with OVERDRIVE. This is 1 of only 2 1955 Corvettes that supposedly left the factory with an overdrive transmission. Just out of 30 years of storage in Georgia, and never offered for public sale until now. Nolan Adams uses #1551 in his Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide Vol. 1 several times. He states how authentic and interesting #1551 is and how original it is also. The condition is very good for the time it has been sitting with a one time repaint on this very nice original body. It is running and driving but cosmetically needs to be restored. The pictures do not show the imperfections very well but the paint is just driver quality. Everything is there like the hard to find distributor cover and air cleaner. The original engine is not in the car but a correctly dated engine is very easy to locate. I could go on for days but if you are looking for a very unique piece of automotive history this is it. Had this car with its V8 and 3-speed not been built, the Corvette would have never made it.
