Car history:
For sale via e-Bay: Vehicle Description This 1957 Corvette was recently discovered hiding in an old aircraft manufacturing facility that is now being partially demolished and rehabilitated. The tenant that I purchased the car from explained to me that he had bought this Corvette back in the early 1970's with the hopes of someday restoring it. This 1957 is an early manual transmission car vin # E57S100964. The car appears to be an original red & red combination. The seats still have their original red seat covers. The dashboard and steering wheel are also red, as is inside the convertible top hatch and storage tray, trunk lid and floor. Other than a good general cleaning, you are seeing the car the way we discovered it. The only difference being, the instrument gauges were all wrapped up in a cardboard box and stored in the trunk. These gauges are in really nice, original condition. They are ink stamped & dated. The clock has a date of Sept. 1956 and the tachometer is dated Nov. 1956. I placed them in the dashboard for photo purposes only. I also have photos of these instruments and many other details of this Corvette, please email me for a photo file if you are interested. This project comes with an aftermarket, one-piece fiberglass front end that was never attached, an original hood (which has damage to one hinge area underneath), a pair of original inner fenders (one is a good usable the other has been cracked and repaired) and an original core support that has some rust. Both doors have uncracked, operating roll-up windows and are complete with all latching mechanisms. The passenger door outer skin has been damaged and repaired. The body from the cowl back appears to be in original condition. The only damage being the right rear tail light area, see photo. The windshield has a crack on the passenger corner. The seat springs are in good usable condition, but the metal seat frames are rusty and in poor condition. The dashboard still has the original gauges, switches, wiring harness, heater, etc., the radio is missing. The firewall is uncracked and still has the electric wiper motor, master cylinder, steering column, etc. This Corvette is rollable and steerable, has no brakes, no engine, transmission or radiator. The frame is very rusty and unusable in my opinion. The convertible top frame is still folded up in the tray, has a good header bow, all of the side mechanisms and arms are complete but it is missing the rest of the bows. As far as the brightwork on the outside, the only pieces that come with the car are what is shown in the photos. I do not have any of the grill, or the other 3 bumpers, or any of the lights or hubcaps. This 57 Corvette comes with a clean, clear West Virginia title. Please understand you are a bidding on a major restoration project, but if you are looking to build a custom or a hot rod, this 57 Corvette with it's original title and vin tag is a great way to start. Again, if you want a detailed photo file, please email me with your request.
