For sale via e-Bay:
One of the finest original 1957 Corvette Dual Quad’s in existence. Its rarity speaks for itself. This Corvette is being offered by its current owner of the past 25 years. It was completely disassembled as photos detail and truly in this case nearly every nut and bolt is the original Chevy factory item that it left the Flint Michigan plant with in 56. The owner of this car purchased it 25 years ago knowing Corvettes as an expert being a renowned hands on Corvette restoration facility owner that only restored Vettes. He searched for his own personal dream Vette for almost 2 years prior to purchasing it and upon inspection was certain that every nut and bolt on it was correct original 57 components as it left the factory new in 1956. The story is very interesting, this car #640, is an extremely early production 57 with a build date of perhaps approximately 11-5-56 according to Michael Hunt a Corvette expert researcher on 57’s. Once he purchased the car he proceeded to disassemble it and painstakingly with old school techniques over the course of the next 2 years of his life devoting 10 hours a day to it 6 days a week. Almost every nut and bolt on this car is hand polished and original. Every piece of steel on this car including the frame is hand polished and rubbed to perfection. All chrome is triple plated to the finest quality available. All glass is perfect, original and dated. Correct T-3 headlights as well as original Wonderbar 25 year old Firestone Tires. Only imperfection is a small cut on the whitewall on one of the tires. I have seen many corvettes in my day but few will compare to what the labor of love and literally 100’s of man hours that has put into this car can compare to. After finishing the restoration, he put the car into his home (living room) and it was stored there for almost the past 25 years only being rarely taken out to be started, driven and lubed and run approximately 300 miles in the past 22 years since its completion. All the original date codes on this vehicle (vette) are 100% correct in as follows: 3 Speed Trans, Chassis #F57S100640, Engine Block Cast # 3731548, Front Engine # F106EG, Brake Master Cylinder #022, Carburetors #2614S & #2613S and Dual Point Distributor #091. For the most purest of corvette collectors this car will satisfy your ultimate hunger for perfection. Right down to the chrome which was all sent to the best chrome replater (old school) for its triple plating and is the best I’ve ever seen on a 57. Its finish is correct original dupont laquer and is magnificent. The interior is perfection, the door panels are the finest original condition not reproduced. Even inside the door panels all the original nuts and bolts are hand polished and rubbed as well as the door hinge it is just amazing. The undercarriage of this car is just one of the best you will ever see. There are just no words to describe the detail of hours and hours of hand rubbing and polishing that have been spent but seeing is believing. The car also includes the original hardtop dated 1957 and it is also in perfect condition. This 270 HP solid lifter dual quad motor is the sweetest sounding vette I ever heard and it is not even broken in yet. Overall I believe this to be one of finest if not the finest original earliest most correct unmolested 57 dual quad Corvette in existence. It can not be duplicated at any cost and is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own the very best. Do not miss this one time offer and the ultimate sacrifice by a man and the machine he married 25 years ago. |
