| Car history: |
eBay Aug 2009 - I've owned this Corvette for the past 26 years and it drives great. It's not a numbers matching car but has been restored over the years to be a fun driver and appear as original. It has a 327 block with "double hump" heads, original style aluminum intake with two WCFB carburetors, solid lifter cam, aluminum case T-10 four speed transmission, and non-positraction 4.11 rear end. It has reproduction 6.70 X 15 Firestone original type blackwall tires mounted on original type steel wheels and reproduction original style wheel covers. The paint is glossy with a few minor scuffs and chips but is in overall good condition. The interior is in very good condition having been restored with Al Knoch original style dash pad, seat covers with new foam, carpet and door panels. The steering wheel is a Corvette Central, original style replacement. The bumpers have dulled over time but are in over-all good condition with no dents or rust except for one very small spot on the left rear bumper. Other chrome (door handles, door posts, etc.) is in good condition but has some slight pitting. Trunk spears are in very good condition. Convertible top and removeable hardtop (including plexiglas windows) are in very good condition. Over the years the following items have been replaced with new original or exact reproduction parts: main wiring harness, brakes, master cylinder, coil springs, king pins, shocks, radiator, entire exhaust system, and rear leaf springs were re-arched.
(Added 11/09) FYI- car now in hands of dealer and is a 270 horse 2x4, 4 speed car. Still sports low horse tach and "high script" non staggered 59 and later valve covers and low horse oil breather (with decal) and 59 and later 2 part air cleaner.
Text below is from eBay ad. 11/2009 Signet Red with White Coves, Black Interior and Black Soft Top. 283/270hp with proper dual 4's and 4 Speed Transmission. Options include Original Wonderbar Radio and Proper Stainless Wheel Covers with Wide Whitewall Tires. What a great old Vette- you just can't beat the sound of a correct high horsepower 283 purring with her solid lifters and perfect idle lobe. This is a real sweetheart with nice body fit, super solid mechanics, and a gorgeous interior. Mileage stated is what shows on the odometer but as with all of our cars because of their age, all are officially listed in paperwork as true miles unknown.
