| Car history: |
Recently purchased from a local estate, this nice red 1958 Corvette This car was bought as a father & son restoration project and had had it in their possession for more than 30 years. Since it's restoration in the early 1970's, it has always been well maintained and properly stored indoors. The Corvette was used very little since the son's death in 1990.
It's shiny red paint is nearly as nice as the day it was finished, there is no cracking or crazing having only a few nicks & chips. All of the bumpers, trim and emblems are in very nice condition. The exception being the molding on the top of the passenger fender which has several dings. There is a small stone chip on the passenger side of the windshield, but it is not scratched or fogged and is definitely usable as is. When the Corvette was being restored, they decided to install a non-original red & white custom interior. They also installed an AM/FM radio and a 4-speed shifter from a 1965 Impala SS.
This 58 was originally Signet red with a red interior. It has factory power windows which was a rare option in these early Corvettes. It was a soft top only car, the color being white. It has been folded up in the rear compartment for years and the material has shrunk and will need to be replaced for proper usage.
The Muncie 4-speed transmission shifts smoothly and both the brakes and exhaust are in good operating condition. The frame is clean and straight having no rust or repairs. All of the lighting except the drivers tail light works, the windshield wiper motor does not. The tachometer is disconnected because of it being changed over to an alternator.
The fuel guage is pegged to full and the temperature gauge does not work.
The AM/FM radio, power windows and horns all function.
With a little bit of tinkering on the faults mentioned above, and detail the engine compartment, this Corvette is a nice driver quality car the way it is, or install a new correct interior and convertible top, and end up with a really nice car. Please understand, this is not a NCRS quality or show car.
This 58 Corvette has a clean and clear, PA title.
