Engine details: Base engine , single four barrel, 283 / 230 HP, rebuilt in 1999
Other details: ALL CORVETTES ARE RED... And so, when it came time to rejuvenate this 40+ year old dream car, it was (and always had been) RED… It seems appropriate that this is also the color that catches everyone’s eye. Including the local constabulary ! General Motors must have wanted it that way.

Body-on restoration completed by Ron's Auto Restoration, Fitchburg, MA in June of 2003

Car history:
15 years ago on a cold Sunday afternoon, in New Hampshire, out for an afternoon of ‘tax-free’ Christmas shopping, we turned around in a parking lot next to J R’s Southern Cars lot – and there it was – MY RED Corvette!!! It wasn’t very long before Jan, my wife, realized that ‘we’ had to have this car and the week before Christmas 1989 it was at home in my garage.

Over the years, both our boys, learned to drive ‘stick’ on the Vette. They learned how to keep the revs up on the old cranky 283 and I know they also learned how to peal out when they were able to take the Vette out for a drive without Dad!!! The old Vette has treated us well ...

Some day, I’ll again dig into the past history of its Vermont owners… The last time I gave up when the widow of one of the first owners (according to the VT Registry) was convinced that her husband had owned a blue Mustang – not a red Corvette… So much for Owner History, eh???
