| Car history: |
You are looking at a Very nice 1958 Chevy Corvette Convertible, Vin # is J58S102613. We have a folder with a very extensive history on the car. It has been in California it entire life and is rust free. This Vette has the 283 V8 with single four barrel, estimated at 230HP. It also has a date correct 4 speed transmission with 3.70:1 rear axle. It runs great, shifts great and drives down the road straight. This car was originally owned by a couple in Oakland California. When it was purchased by them it was red with white covers. This car was featured in many Levi Strauss of San Francisco advertising layouts throughout the years. In 1989 It was purchased by the second owner out of San Leandro, CA. From 1989-1996 the owner with years of experience with Vettes, proceeded with a frame on restoration. All of the panels and trim were removed to expose the original color of silver blue. Car was completely stripped, primed and repainted with Dupont Lucite Acrylic Lacquer. It was painted the original Silver Blue. The correct blue grey interior was also installed. The wiring harness was also replaced, a black soft top was done and a new frame. All of the stainless was also replaced or refinished. Process took around 7 years.
In 1996 with the odometer reading 0398 the car was purchased by its current owner here in Vacaville, CA, and restoration to NCRS guidelines was continued. The undercarriage was inspected, cleaned and detailed, and all components were adjusted and replaced as needed.
In 1998 the convertible top was replaced to a GM color option blue gray.
In 1999 the engine was completely rebuilt by Shelldust Machine in Pacheco, CA. Crank was ground .20 under and the block was bored .20 over.
In 2001 The radiator was fitted with a four row core.
In 2004 the windshield was replaced and date stamped.
In 2005 the radial white wall tires were replaced. A reconditioned WCFB carb was purchased and installed. The metal interior door panels and kick panles were replaced.
The mileage listed is the correct mileage since full restoration. The paint looks great. As with many vettes there are some cracks in the paint, but all are very minor. This car has been enjoyed by the current owners for the past 12+ years, but they have found it is time to move on to other ventures. Everything has been carefully documented and placed in a large white binder. In 2003 this car was judged by the western states Corvette council and was given a rating of 98.9 out of a possible 100 point class. This was done by three judges.
