Car history:
1955 CORVETTE ID# VE55S001519. #519 of 700 built. After a disappointing sales year in 1954, the Corvette was re-designed. The 1955 Corvette evolved into a true sports car with the 265 cu in V8 that generated 195 hp, 3-speed manual transmission. The manual transmission was not available until very late in the year and even then only an estimated 70-80 cars were equipped. According to Bert Lukins, 1955 Corvette authority within the National Corvette Restorers Society, of the 700 cars built, as many as 350 may be left today. This fully restored example which was completed in 2002 only has 43,478 miles from new. According to the current owner who has owned the car for 20 years, the car has never been in an accident. It has been driven very sparingly over the last 20 years in fact it has only been driven less than 1,000 miles. The owner had the body of the car restored in his own shop in Fresno, California by a couple of friends who are retired Corvette restorers. Brake system, gas tank and other misc. items done by West Coast Corvettes in Burlingame, California. Identification number: VE55S001519, engine number: 0093388 F55FG, engine casting: 3703524.
