Car history:
Although the 1955 Corvette looked like the 1953-54 models, it was now available with Chevrolet's 265 cu in V-8 engine. It was rated at 195 hp, and quickly built an enviable reputation.

This is the oldest surviving V-8 engined Corvette production car. It is serial number 002, the previous car, 001, has been destroyed therefore, this can be documented as the earliest. It has been the subject of a frame-off restoration and has been Certified Bloomington Gold and NCRS Top Flight. It has been on display at the National Corvette Museum for the last five years.
