Car history:
Earliest known, pilot build RPO 579E, built for Bill Howe, an amateur SCCA racer, and Ohio Chevrolet Dealer. Car delivered at Factory on May 16, 1957, and was driven through the night to Cumberland, Maryland where it arrived just in time for the important National Championship points race, where Howe finished third behind Dick Thompson and Carroll Shelby.Raced extensivelyduring 1957 season, and retired at end of year when Howe took delivery of a new 1958 RPO 684 car. Howe worked with Delcdo Moraine throughout the '57 season testing the new sinterd metallic brakes, eventually offered as part of the RPO 687 package. Known chain of ownership and History documented with period photos and 16mm movies. Featured on Discovery Channel's ONE OF A KIND series, as well as various books, magazines, and newspapers. Bloomington Special Collection 2007, Bloomington Gold and NCRS TOP FLIGHT 2008, AMELIA ISLAND and CARLISLE RACE CAR REUNION 2009.
