Engine details: No engine when purchased in 1999. I purchased a correct casting numbered March 1957 block (too early for car but all I could find at the time) from a short school bus and it was actually a 265ci bore which turned out to be a blessing because I was able to have it bored to 283ci and used a set of forged 9.5 to 1 pistons. NOS 1957 Duntov cam and solid lifters, correct 270hp WCFB Carter carburetors and 539 fullie type heads. Rotating assembly was balanced and assembled in Missoula Montana at Jerry's Custom Engines.
Other details: This car was originally Polo White with Venetian Red interior

Car history:
I am a previous owner of 1957 Corvette serial number ES57106201. I acquired this 1957 which was located in Rollins Montana from a gentleman named Tom Gay in 1999. The car was unrestored and had been sitting in and outside storage since 1972. Mr. Gay purchased the car in Reading Pa. from a gas station on a circle. The two young owners had been drag racing this car and had a big block motor in the car. Mr gay then spent the next ten years acquiring NOS parts for the car. Those NOS parts came with the car when I purchased it.
The 57 was in red oxide primer and had old racing slicks screwed onto chrome reverse wheels on the back. There was a coffee can with an air bladder mounted over the right rear axle tube as a preload for racing. When I removed the red oxide the Polo White remnants were evident as was the Venetian Red interior. When I took the rear end gear set apart I found that it was a 5:13 ratio which had been stripped of half its ring gear teeth.
I used the NOS 1957 Duntov cam and solid lifters to build a 1957 block that I acquired from an old school bus. This block was the correct casting number but was an early ( March ) block, the car being an August car. I had the block bored to 283ci and had forged 9.5 to 1 pistons installed.
I decided to build this car as a black four spped car with the correct 270 hp cam, lifters, and Carter 270hp WCFB's. NOS off road round muflers and exhaust. 1964 Saginaw four speed which I rebuilt. 3:08 posi trac rear end gearing.
I registered this car in 2000 in Montana and drove it over the next 7 years over 16,000 miles.
I sold this car in 2007 to a corvette dealer in Pennsylvania.
I have since seen it for sale ion the internet in New Jersey for $80,000. It was listed as an original and correct 270 hp four speed car.
