Sharp 1956 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible. The '56 model year was the first
restyle of the first generation. It was about making a more powerful looking car
to go with the true muscle in the engine bay. That means power bulges in the
hood, rounded fender lines, and a subtler hint of tailfin. This Corvette is a
frame off restoration that originally came with a 265 CID V8 engine that was
replaced with a 350 CID that is mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission.
The engine and transmission were both new and now have less than 2k miles
on them since being finished. During the rebuild, many new items were upgraded
and installed that include; an aluminum radiator, quick fuel carburetor, new
wiring and harness, signal seeking radio with iPod functionality, new or Re-
chromed trim, rebuilt the gauges, new fuel lines and gas tank, redone the brake
lines/ wheel cylinders/ shoes, new glass windshield and frame with original side
glass, and even the exhaust system was replaced. This car has a beautiful black
with silver coves paint theme that still shines and looks to be in show quality.
The interior is completed in Al Knoch red vinyl that flows well with the black paint.
Also a new black Coffman soft top frame and covering have been installed. This
car is turnkey and ready to roll. Only 3,467 Corvettes were produced and only
810 were black. The current owner has owned this black beauty for the past 10
years and is finally willing to let someone else enjoy it after driving it.
