Car history:
Hello, you are looking at the 1965 & 1966 World Champion 1958 Corvette "THE POOCH" drag car owned and raced by Deloy Naeb. Deloy was the first Colorado drag racer to ever win a NHRA World Championship. Deloy lived in Brighton Colorado and owned Naeb's Garage. The Corvette ran a Hilborn injected 283 motor and ran in C/MP, D/MP or D/MSP classes. The car was amazingly used in a MOON EQUIPMENT CO. advertisement in 1966 Then featured in Super Stock & Drag Illustrated magazine in September of 1968 (see photos). Then in early 2008 "THE POOCH" was one of a few Corvettes chosen for an article in HOT ROD DELUXE magazine labled "The inspiration for today's builds of first generation drag Vette's" (See photos). I bet this magazine would love to hear that the car still exits basically untouched. Deloy sold the car to a person in Albuquerque N.M. in the late 70's. The car became a part of a small collection then put away in a (for lack of a better term) barn. See photos below on how the car was found when purchased. The car was tracked down then purchased by it's current owner 2 years ago. The original "THE POOCH", Deloy Naeb, Brighton Colorado and 1966 World Champion NHRA Nationals lettering is still visible (see photos).

The car is complete with only the exception of the soft top, motor, transmission, door core trim and chrome trim on trunk. The grill is absent from the photos but is included. The chassis is in wonderfull condition without any pits or rust through. The body is in great shape also with the only problem area being a verticle crack on the driver front fender. The floors are fantastic. The original Crayon marking of the factory color can also be seen. The color was Charcoal. All glass is also present. The car has been in dry storage it's entire life.

The modifications for drag racing were very simple and almost harmless. Four small oval shaped holes were cut out of the hood for the Hilborn fuel injection. A heavily modified Oldsmobile rear axle was installed to the original leaf springs. A great Chrome push bar was made in the shape to copy the Vette bumpers. The front suspention was lifted by bolting in high rise blocks. Nothing was butchered. The same rear wheels and tires are on the car.

The car has a clear New Mexico original type title. eBay July 2009
