The car was acquired by Vintage Vettes of Murfreesboro TN USA during 2011-12 and they coordinated restoration. Of note, a lacquer repaint in Regal Turquoise Metallic, a replacement engine (utilizing a 350 donor block), an Al Knoch interior and new convertible frame and soft top. I purchased it from them on February 1, 2013 and currently own. I've changed out the rear end to a driver friendly 3:08. |

For sale via e-Bay:
1958 Corvette/30 yr Barn Find/Complete/Correct Engine Block/4 Spd You are bidding on a rare and unusual fresh Barn Find 1958 Corvette Roadster that has been quietly tucked away for over 30 years and is now its first time being offered to the market. This is truly a unique opportunity and the perfect 1958 Corvette to restore to perfection as it is nearly complete/unmolested and still has its original 283 block intact with it and also a perfect original frame (a rarity in and of itself). This 1958 Vette completely restored is definitely a six figure automobile and its current owner was planning to finish it as a 270hp with proper dual quad set-up. If you have been searching for a very straight, original complete 1958 Corvette roadster to restore to top flight/Bloomington standards you really do not want to miss this one. These 58s are becoming increasingly valuable and extremely difficult to come by. It seems that the 58s are certainly one of the hottest collectors choices in the vintage Corvettes market today. Perhaps it is because this was the only year the car came with the gorgeous washboard hood and the unique twin chrome luggage strips on the rear trunk lid. Maybe it was the extensive restyling which included a new dash, new upholstery, new external fiberglass panels, etc. For whatever reason, this seems to be one of the hottest vintage Corvettes being sought after by top collectors right now and it is driving the prices on these 58s through the roof.
Lets talk about details: This particular 1958 Corvette is truly a real barn find with well over 30 years in dry storage and now for the first time offered to the market. It is an excellent almost complete very straight original unmolested example with its original engine block intact. Almost all of the body work has already been done and as you can see from the pictures that the car is now in full primer poised for final blocking and paintwork. The washboard hood is the original factory hood as well. All of the chrome is in very nice original condition and there are new complete grill teeth included in the sale. The chrome hub caps are very nice and are the originals. The trunk spare is also intact and in excellent condition. The soft top bow/frame has also already been sandblasted and primed ready for final painting. This is very important, the perfect original frame appears to have been already sandblasted and primed properly as well. The interior is complete and as you can see in the pictures mostly all original. All the gauges are original and completely intact. There is a 7000 rpm tach and the original clock and radio. New correct carpets are included in the sale as well.

Lets talk mechanicals; The original 283 engine comes with the car and the proper 4 speed transmission with the original rear is included as well. Car is a full rolling chassis and all the pieces are back on the car ready to go to its new owner (so there are no surprises or guesswork involved). There is nothing to hide on this rare 58 Corvette roadster. What you see is exactly what you will get and again with no surprises. This is a very difficult decision to sell this Corvette for its owner and is an ultimate sacrifice sale. Please take this into consideration when bidding. This Corvette has been accurately described and is poised and ready to be brought back to its former glory and beauty. Remember these 58s in #1 condition are 6 figure plus automobiles now and one of the most difficult to find of all Corvettes in any condition. So bid accordingly and dont miss this extremely rare opportunity to own your dream 1958 Corvette. |
