374Y..1955 Corvette Convertible, chassis VE55S001249, 283, 3 speed (and a real 3 speed car by all indications), 41,848 actual miles. Harvest Gold (Yellow) paint with Harvest Gold (Yellow/Green combo) interior and Beige soft top which should be Green. This is Zora and Elfi Duntov's personal car that was acquired sometime around 1955/56 and then sold in 1962 to their neighbor (Zora was the original owner). This car became Zora's mule (test bed) for various engine combinations and was painted Silver with Blue stripes by the styling group at GM. This car was displayed at the Bloomington Gold show in 1999 in The Roar to Zora - Field of Dreams display and at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance in 2005 as the 1955/56 Chevrolet Duntov Corvette (mule car). This is one very special Corvette of the only 700 ever produced in 1955 and one of only 120 produced in Harvest Gold. Having read through the volumes of literature, writings, and ramblings, we do wish to correct one misunderstanding that this car has a 1956 chassis when in fact our inspection has revealed that the frame/chassis is in fact that of a 1955 Corvette VIN #E55S001249. Optioned with Wonderbar radio, e-brake warning light, windshield washers, courtesy lights, heater, hubcaps, and 6.70x15 window white tires. Most all factory correct type components. Documented with volumes of magazine articles, letters from GM, letter of authenticity from Zora, show displays, registrations, and featured in the NCRS Restorer in the winter of 1976. |
