Car history:
For sale via e-Bay:

The history of this car has been passed down verbal owner to owner, I'm the 5th person to own this car. There are no documents to back up this history, there are items that do support the stories.

The car was purchased in Conn. in 1962 by a older lady celerbrating her 62nd birthday. Its said that it had a had trailer hitch and trailer hooked up to it in the show room. There is evidence that there is truth to that.In 1969 the car was stolen and recovered, with motor damage and slight damage on left front fender. There is also evidence that supports that also. Its said that after repairs were completed she sold the car, since she felt violated from its theft. The second owner painted the car Hugger orange and after a short period sold the car. The third owner had the car stripped of paint [to bare glass] and had it repainted as you now see it now. He wanted the coves painted, and added chrome bezels to make it look like a 61 scheme. Can't say it was a bad choice,it was his ride his choice. Trouble is that he never drove it, he was afraid to and it sat for 20 years in his garage. Along comes Art my friend 4th owner he buys it in the early 90's holds on to it [ no revisions] and sells it to me in 2001. Here we are up to date, I added a new white GM soft top, original was so shrunk you couldn't latch it down, plus it was black.Replaced rear axle bearings, seals and brakes this summer do to dry lip seals.

The motor has the correct dated heads, intake, carb, distributer, however a short block was installed in 69 from theft looks to be a 65 unserialized motor CE block designated as a warrnty replacement or target motor, dealer stamped 69 on pad. This designation started in 1968 for all replacement blocks. Trans is correct air cooled powerglyde 2 speed. Rear is untouched with tags except axle bearings and seals.Missing original parts are wonder bar radio, now has fit in place casette player radio made for these cars [ no change to original radio hole]. Steering wheel is from 58 vette I installed since someone replaced original with an aftermarket wheel. I was going to have it restored to fawn color. Overall the fiberglass is of excellent quality on the whole car the paint is also excellent for its age, it does have to minor scatch and a small road chip[ see photos]. The trunk is missing its jack assembly and wrench, but has its original plywood cover with jack sheet attached.Car has all 5 original 5 x 15" steel wheels and covers. Rear bumpers are replated, fronts are original untouched and minor pitting from its 40 years.Interior is original and is in good condition for its age, seats could use new padding under seat cushions. This car has 90% of its original parts, it has low mileage at 73,000 and drives nicely, with no rattles or shakes. This is a nice original car missing its block, steering wheel , radio, jack parts and paint. There has been repairs to left front fender on top near headlight bucket from theft,it is a professional repair. The only other item is the factory installed [ dealer?] trailer hitch harness in trunk. Yes harness, it flips out for hook up and it looks factory rapped, see photos. There are small items that need work, clock is no longer working, need new cable insert for tach, hand bar cover needs replace, heater duct hose under dash needs replace, etc these are minor fixes. The motor is like new, it burrs like kitten, and is as quiet as a mouse. We believe there were 59,000 miles when it was stolen and motor was repaired, so there are only 14,000 miles on this powerplant.I'm 56 now and have been working on these cars since I was 16. This car goes down the road better than the ones I drove back in the sixties. The hardtop is original and painted red, I had no help to install for photos so best look is it as hanging in garage. I've added under-car photos, since I had so many questions the last listing. I want ot be perfectly clear on this car, it is an un-restored survivor, it is rare to find these cars in this condtion with as many original components.

I've been around Chevrolets all my life, and I snicker at this matching numbers "Bull". Un-molested cars are hard to come buy , period. There are more matching numbers cars Today than there were 35 years ago, in this area alone there were 20 C1 vettes in the early and mid sixties, and not one them had original motors, transmissions or rears. They were all hammered, especially the standard trans cars. Lets get real, there's a lot of re-stamping going on out there, and if done correctly its hard to tell. Doe's that mean some junk yard block re-stamped to match constitutes a matching numbers car, not in my mind! A truely matching numbers car is that rare item thats never been painted, never been restored, never been touched, a specimen vehicle with all the right stuff. Those are rare and command all the money to a true collector. This car isn't in that category, since it has been repainted and has missing original parts, however its the closest I've seen in a lot of years. I had a lot of questions for this cars frame, I put at 95 out of 100, its original and un-touched, has had no repairs, no holes, just the typical minor surface rust. There is paint left on some of its surfaces. I have more photos of under car than are shown.
