Engine details: the engine was replaced in 1962 under warranty, has no numbers on the info pad, but has a date code on the rear of the engine, which says it was a replacement 327 engine for 1962 built in January, must have sat at GM for awhile as the car according to the vin # it was made between May 7 June of 62, when replaced under warranty I don't know, but does show build in Jan of 62 and the internet says it was a replacement motor per ID, Re: HP I had the heads off and it has high dome pistons stock? I think the 300 HP had flat pistons and the 340/360 had high top pistons but the car does not have the 340 HP Tach, so either it came with a 300 then converted to a 340 or GM under warranty gave the original owner a 340 block, ( wish I could find who was the original owner) any help? photoman51@aol.com
Other details: I have owned this car for over 18 years, this summer my 15 year old and I have started to restore it, it really was not that bad except for scratches some the block sanding begins. it was painted maroon we are changing it to roman red as I have a 68 camaro that color and like it better, how do I find out what the original color was I don't see any color tags?any help? photoman51@aol.com
