Car history: |
The car was restored in 1984 with a plaque on the floor Handcrafted by Richard DeJessie 1984 verifying this. The current owners have owned the car for the past 17+ years and have always kept it in their garage. They are regrettably selling it due to health reasons.
The body appears to be in nice condition. Weve had several customers who checked the car out and they have told us it still retains the original body panels. The fiberglass is in nice shape with very minimal cracks in the paint. The paint itself is in nice condition for being done so long ago. You can tell it was a professional job. It is smooth with a nice shine to it. There are some minor flaws as you would expect for its age but even up close it still looks nice. The chrome bumpers are in nice shape and the bright trim looks to be original and in serviceable shape.
The interior is in ok condition with a combination of original pieces and new seats. The seats appear to have been redone and are in nice shape. The door panels look to be original with some wear. The carpet is either good original condition or was replaced some time ago. The dash is original. There are various missing screws throughout the interior. The original Wonderbar AM radio is still in place (not working). The heater fan does work. The clock is in place but does not work. The gauges work. On the dash panel is an ignition cut off toggle switch. The original owners manual is with the car too. The white soft top is older but still in good shape. She also has a red hardtop which is in good condition.
This Corvette runs very well and goes down the road great. The engine is a 1962 vintage 327. The block casting is 3789817 with a date code of 1-5-62 and a front pad number of TO914D. The intake manifold is the original date coded B-3-8 unit. The carburetor is a newer Edelbrock replacement. The valve covers are vintage Offenhauser finned pieces. Backing up the motor is a 4-speed manual transmission. She has an aftermarket flex fan to help cool the radiator. The wiring harness and fuse block under the dash was replaced. The before mentioned toggle switch is necessary to shut the car off. This Corvette rides on repro BFGoodrich Silvertown tires. She drives down the road well. The motor performs well and the transmission shifts easy. Its been a while since weve had one of these straight axle cars in the shop but after driving this one, I can see the attraction to owning one. Its an absolute blast to drive!
Overall, you are getting a nice older restored 1958 Corvette that will make a great driver. The paint and body look nice, the interior is a little worn but still looks good, and she drives excellent.
