| Car history: |
You are viewing my 1960 Corvette which I purchased from an estate. The car has a date code correct 283 (3756519) suffix code CF, that holds 55lbs. of oil pressure, is super quiet, has 85lbs. of compression on every cylinder, and doesn't smoke. It has an M20 Muncie 4 speed (3885010) that is quiet and shifts smooth. The rear end is a 3.36 open with casting numbers 3725899/C101. The paint color is Roman Red with a white insert, with Red interior. The interior in the car looks like new. The car has both the soft top & hard top. Everything works except for the temp gauge. It probably needs a sending unit. Even the clock works!
The previous owner had this car for at least ten years. It looks like a few years before that the car was rotisseri restored because the underside of the car was painted, all new body mount rubbers were replaced, the frame was painted, the front end has been rebuilt, the front coil springs, all steering components, sway bars, drive shaft, backing plates, brake drums, fan shrowd, & hood latches were chromed.
Over the years the car has not been put on a lift and kept clean so the chrome is no longer perfect underneath, the paint is letting go above the mufflers from the heat, and people have been putting jacks under the A arms and rear end and have chipped the paint. The hard top has a very nice head liner but the window glass was not restored and there is a scratch in the paint on the passenger side top which you can see in the pictures, the soft top was replaced probably during the restoration and needs a little more cleaning and has one small hole about the size of a pencil earaser on the drivers side about an inch up from the bottom. The paint is base , clear, and looks to have been done right when it was done. The car has a paint chip on the hood and paint chips on both sides where the hard top has been taken on and off. There is a noticable repair on the drivers side front fender lip in the center. There is a hair line crack showing on the passenger side front fender next to where the hood shuts. See pictures. The paint on the car has some water spots and really needs to be color sanded and rubbed. The bumpers, grill, and all exterior chrome looks to have been re-done. The rims have some pitting on the edges and the tires are like new. I have all the keys and the car will lock up. The trunk area has also been restored and looks new under the mat. There is a jack but no spare tire in the well. I do not know if the colors on this car were original colors.
At present this car is not show quality, not numbers matching, but very nice driver quality. This car has had a lot of money spent on it some time ago! If you are looking for a nice driver quality 1st generation Corvette that will still win trophies at the small local car shows, this is it.
